OUR STORY
The joinery Markelj is a family business, which started in the year 1995. In our team there are currently 15 employees. We are a team of reliable and responsible people. With the help of technology and our experience we make all your wishes come true. We love to produce things which are technically fulfilled and have a sophisticated design, because we see in them new experiences and a great challenge.
WE BELIEVE IN OUR FUTURE, LET US BUILD IT TOGETHER AND LET US MAKE A PART OF YOUR HOME, OUR PRIDE.
The founder of the Markelj journey started his own way in the basement of his own home. The start was very difficult. But soon he didn’t have enough space anymore, this is why we started the building of new workspaces in the year 2000. In there we now have new modern wood working machines, with them we can make some quality work.
OUR FUTURE, WHAT WE WANT TO ACHIEVE…
We want to be a company which is recognizable on the market, through professionalism and quality. We search for contacts in foreign markets, because we want to increase our export.
We have already worked on some projects in the following countries: Russia, Moldova, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy.

2016
Our design team gets a new addition with innovative architect Anja Jemec. The same year we also update our production line with machine Biesse Levia 400, which makes complex finishing surfaces possible to make.
2015
Simon Štampar begins with the active selling in German speaking counties.
2014
We divide responsibilities among us. We also employ 3 new people and expand to 15 employees.
2013
We buy a new grinder, which allows us to finish our surfaces in a better way. We also successfully combined our production with a 3D modeling program.
2012
Jernej takes over the marketing and development, Jan Jurjevec comes to help at selling.
2011
We bought a new CNC machine, with four axis and a fifth manual one. The table has the size 480 cm x 135 cm.
2010
We build new modern painting rooms and some smaller production rooms. The son Aleš starts to visit the Woodworking faculty.
2009
We bought a computer-controlled cutter. Jernej starts to visit the faculty of design – interior design. We developed the INLINE system.
2008
We buy a computer controlled saw.
2007
The son Jernej makes his practice in Finland in the city Lahti.
2003-2004
He decides to start a company and employees the first person.
1996-1997-2000
We start building our home and buy the first saw and new press. The owner is now Nikolaj junior.
1980-1982
He builds the first saw. He develops a new technic of covering pitch stains on wood. He earns many rewards. The system is still in use among many joiners.
1975
In the following years he renews the buildings and builds a new one, where later the saw is positioned. He works at Jelovica.
1964
Nikolaj Markelj Senior buys with his wife Frau Minka the homesteadPr' Graparji – Hlavče Njive 10. You can find us still there.
